A personal view of Mountains

Nature is a changing environment, full of surprises and challenges for those who are willing to observe. Mountains are one of the natural environments where these changes go to extremes. Every mountain view is unique and unrepeatable. Light, weather, vegetation, erosion, snow, water and ice make it impossible to observe the same scenery twice.

Being born and raised in Asturias, a region with a privileged environment, it has been difficult to me not to feel a fascination for the mountains around me from an early age. This fascination has led me to try to express through my photography what mountains mean to me: The greatest show in the world.

Digital capture and processing, in that ‘magic loom’ which a computer is, have brought a revolution in the photographic technique. The doors of high quality photography have been opened to enthusiasts, allowing us to achieve levels of quality that until a decade ago were reserved for professional photographers. It has been in recent years, after completing the transition to digital technology when I have experienced the greatest satisfactions from making photographs.

I wish that, despite limitations in size, resolution and color fidelity of the Web, these images will inspire you.
